Phil Dixon:

Phil is passionate about the brain. Everyone’s brain. He spends much of his time reading the latest research about the neuroscience of the brain, and determining how that research can be translated into practical application in our daily lives.

In particular, Phil is deeply involved in the application of neuroscience to Leadership and Management issues such as Executive Coaching, Leadership and Management Development, Change Planning & Management, Culture Change – and yes, Action Learning.

Recently, Phil has become the Managing Director of Second and Nun Street Group, an HR focused, brain-based training and consulting company.

He has had four major phases in his working career. In reverse order, they are:

a)    what he is doing now i.e. the application of the growing body of knowledge of the brain to the field of leadership and management, which he has been doing since 2002.

b)    The third phase of his career was a side-ways leap as the CEO of a commercial real estate firm for four years

c)     Prior to that, from 1985 to 1999, he was in Organization Development and Management Consulting.

d)    His first career, was in Information Technology culminating at Apple, in the early 80’s, as Director of IT.

En route, he has worked in the private and public sectors, has established and grown a number of consulting firms and has lived, worked and/or taught in over twenty countries.

In 2009, he had the opportunity to study for a Master’s degree from Oxford/HEC in Counselling and Consulting to Change. Right now, he is in the process of writing a book with the working title: Using Your Brain for a Change.

Phil lives in Oxford, North Carolina with his wife, Cathy, and their boxer dog, Jake
